Overwhelmed by kindness and generosity
22/12/2023
We would like to thank our staff team, family, friends and individual supporters who generously donated their time and energy, raised donations and gifted new toys and gift vouchers for families.
A Christmas party was held yesterday with a traditional Santa presenting the toys and gifts to 33 children and today, fresh food parcels, toys and gifts have all been hand picked, packed, wrapped and personally delivered to homes across the boroughs by a dedicated staff team supporting 73 adults and 108 children.
We would like to thank South East Metals Ltd, Wharf Timber, KS Timber Ltd, St John’s Church Tilbury, Thurrock Bikers, Salvation Army, Crown Prosecution Service (Eastern Region Essex Office) and Thurrock Psychological Wellbeing Team for their donations.
Jenny, Team Lead for SERICC Children & Families services stated "We know that Christmas can be especially difficult for anyone who is dealing with the aftermath of sexual abuse and violence, with the added pressure of the cost of living crisis really being felt at this time of year. Over the last year SERICC staff have provided specialist counselling and advocacy services to 332 children and young people who were 16 years or younger when they experienced sexual abuse. These experiences can be long lasting and devastating for the whole family. The donations this year have been amazing and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed."
