Counselling and other support for adults
Counselling
SERICC provides one-to-one counselling for adults who are victims and survivors of any type of sexual violence, either recently or in the past. Our team of specialist sexual violence practitioners provide telephone, confidential online and face to face support.
Counselling provides a space where you can explore your feelings around your experience of sexual violence or child sexual abuse. Your counsellor will never force you to talk about anything you are not ready to, and you and your counsellor will review whether you feel the counselling is meeting your needs on a regular basis. Although you may not always find your sessions easy or comfortable, deciding to have specialist sexual violence counselling can be a very powerful and life-affirming choice, providing an opportunity to explore and accept your past experiences and to move forward positively with your life.
It takes a lot of courage to come for counselling and it’s not always easy to talk about your thoughts and feelings.
If you want to progress into counselling, you’ll be put on our waiting list and we will see you as soon as we are able (depending upon you individual needs and requirements). We offer telephone, online and face to face appointments. We have very secure online rooms where you can have regular sessions with your counsellor. The number of sessions will be decided between you and your counsellor, according to your needs and circumstances.
